FBI-Agentin Ingrid Skyberg ist zu einer Schulung in London. Während einer träge verlaufenden Lehreinheit werden sie und eine Kollegin plötzlich in die amerikanische Botschaft gerufen. Er geht um einen Job, für den Ingrid schließlich ausgewählt wird. Die Enkelin der US-Außenministerin ist aus Paris, wohin sie die Großmutter zu einer Konferenz begleitete, verschwunden. Die letzte Spur führt nach London. Gemeinsam mit dem Sicherheitsfachmann Nick Angelis macht sich Ingred auf die Suche nach der jungen Frau.
Was hat Rachel bewogen, ihren Bodyguard zu entwischen und nach London zu kommen? Handelt es sich um eine kleine Eskapade oder befindet sich die 18-jährige in Gefahr? Ingrid Skyberg und Nick Angelis begeben sich auf die Spur des Mädchens und müssen doch neidlos zugeben, dass sie des Öfteren genarrt werden. Dennoch verdichten kleinste Hinwiese sich langsam zu einem Bild.
Als Prequel zu einer Reihe um Agentin Skyberg ist diese Geschichte gedacht. Relativ kurz aber prägnant wird Ingrid Skyberg vorgestellt. Ihre Kabbeleien mit ihrem Gegenpart Nick Angelis geraten dabei recht amüsant. Obwohl er Ingrid mit seiner großkotzigen Art zunächst nicht so sympathisch ist, erledigt er seine Aufgaben schnell und kompetent. Und wer Motorrad fährt kann so ganz schlecht auch nicht sein. In Kombination bilden die Stärken der Beiden eine gute Grundlage zur Lösung des Falles.
Spannend und leicht zu lesen ist dieser Kurzroman. Zwar nicht so verzwickt, dass er ewig nachhängt. Doch als Vorstellung der Protagonistin gerade recht und fesselnde Unterhaltung bietend.
